At Websol, our principal achievement is that we have consistently evolved and survived. We continue to be technologically relevant by delivering high-Quality cells and modules while caring environment and the safety & health of our employees and society, a distinguishing feature of our corporate longevity. We started with 1MW in 1994 with Vision “To provide clean, reliable, environment friendly, competitive electrical energy around the world to save our planet earth for our future generations” and achieve 250MW cells and modules capacity in 2022.
In the last 30 years, we are continuously increasing cell efficiency from 16.5% to 22.5% and transformed the company from locally developed manual processes to total automatic manufacturing processes through technical partnerships with global Solar PV research institutes. This transformation and growth happened through the engagement of the process & production, quality control, and maintenance engineering teams. We have faced several challenges from the non-availability of solar silicon wafers and suitable manpower to operate advanced solar PV machines. In 1994 we have developed in-house technology to process rejected semiconductor wafers into solar PV cells.
Our regular investment in manpower through in-house training and allowing them to join training in Europe and Japanese equipment manufacturers has helped us to increase employee performance, better use of equipment and systems, reduce the time for new product development and develop a learning culture in the organization.
Opportunities in the domestic market -India’s renewable energy story is one of the most exciting in the world. The country’s non-fossil fuel-based power generation capacity was 174.53 GW at the end of Dec 2022 and 63.30GW was generated through solar PV . The country outlined a renewable energy target of 225 GW in 2022 and which was upgraded to 450 GW by 2030, and the solar PV target has been fixed at 280GW.
On January 4, 2022, the National Green Hydrogen Mission was approved by the Union Cabinet. Green hydrogen could be an ideal power source for energy-intensive industries like refining, steel, cement, heavy mobility, and industrial heating. There is growing excitement that green hydrogen could be the fuel of the future, backed by renewable energy. The simple replacement of fossil fuel-driven energy with solar cells has been accepted locally and globally.
Our focus areas – Conserving energy through operational efficiency and increasing the share of green power in total consumption are focus areas. We aim to grow sustainable by opting advance clean technologies in manufacturing to save water and electricity. 120 kW of solar PV power was installed in 2017 and connected to the grid for in-house consumption as a part of our vision to shift total electricity requirement from Solar PV in near future. Our belief is sustainable growth is possible only use of green energy and a safe work environment.
Our commitment and future plan – To make the planet safe and accelerate green growth, we will continue to invest in advanced Solar PV technology and annual ISO 14001:2015 certification control manufacturing processes in line with international standards.
The company is aligned its mission with government of India objectives to generate 300 GW of power from Solar PV by 2030 and reduce carbon emissions by one billion tonnes by the end of the decade .To address growing need of solar cells and Modules in domestic and international market , the company is expanding solar modules capacity to 550MW and solar cells capacity to 2.4 GW solar cells in two phases .First phase comprise of 600 MW solar cells and 550 MW solar Modules and second phase comprises of 1.8 GW solar cells.
